What is IRONBOUND?
Ironbound is a global documentary that follows the extraordinary lives of elite vegan strength and physique athletes. From bodybuilders and powerlifters to strongman competitors, Olympic weightlifters, CrossFit and HYROX athletes, kettlebell sport specialists, and more, these athletes are competing and WINNING at the highest levels, from regional competitions to international championships.
Filmed across the United States, Canada, and Europe including Ireland, the UK, Norway, Austria, Belgium, Russia, and beyond – Ironbound captures the intensity, precision, and discipline required to excel in sport at this level. Every lift, every rep, every competition tells a story of dedication, resilience, and unwavering commitment.
At its heart, Ironbound is a study of strength – not just physical, but ethical and mental. The film explores how a plant-based diet fuels performance, resilience, and recovery, while also reflecting the moral, environmental, and health choices that inspire these athletes to push beyond limits.
Through intimate interviews, behind-the-scenes access, and on-the-floor competition footage, Ironbound delves into the mindsets, training strategies, and nutritional practices that define these champions. The documentary also offers viewers practical insights on incorporating plant-based nutrition into daily life, enhancing athletic performance, and crafting meals and routines that nourish both body and purpose.
Ironbound is more than a one-off film. It’s an ongoing project documenting inspiring plant-based athletes. It’s a case study showcasing that a plant-based diet can fuel top-level performance while saving animal lives and benefiting the environment. It’s a testament to what is possible when conviction meets action. A celebration of the athletes who are redefining strength and compassion.
I believe Ironbound is a necessary film for this moment. While countless vegan athletes in the strength and physique world are competing – and winning – at the highest levels, their stories remain largely untold. Like many others, I was inspired to go vegan through documentaries that opened my eyes, and I see this project as a tool to show the world that athletes can be just as strong while making choices that save animal lives and reduce environmental impact. To date, I’ve fully funded and filmed Ironbound on my own, taking on the project solo when I couldn’t find a team to join me. The GoFundMe campaign is crucial – it directly determines the quality of the final film by allowing me to bring in the post-production team this story deserves. Ironbound will be completed regardless, but its impact will grow in proportion to the support it receives.
